Why EAL?
EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) is a horse driven, experiential learning program. Horses can’t lie or overthink a particular situation; they approach us with honestly, and it is this honesty that makes the powerful difference in the lives of the participants. Horses live in the moment and they are non-judgmental. Horses have the intuitive ability to identify messages that humans unknowingly send when approaching and interacting with their teammates. Horses typically use body language to communicate, but they can also react to verbal messages.
Our EAL programming can foster personal development in the following areas:
- communication
- trust
- confidence
- leadership skills
- resilience
- empathy
- team building
- decision making
- making connections
- conflict resolution
- body language
EAL empowers individuals through interactive group exercises, with the emphasis being “everyone in the group matters” – including the horse. These attributes make this approach ideal for cultivating strong effective leaders and also allow for effective personal growth. Participants learn valuable skills, while engaging in a fun atmosphere, that includes the dynamic of working with a horse.
Our programming is delivered by certified Equine Assisted Learning facilitators and certified assistants who are skilled and well-versed in horse behaviour. They use their knowledge and understanding of the horse/human parallels to help enhance and develop key life skills in the participants.
All of our exercises take place on the ground, so participants do not need to have any previous riding or horse experience.
